This weekend I am very excited to receive a parcel from Russia with a beautiful Vologda lace dress!
It’s a summer linen dress with traditional Volodga lace.
The Russian word for lace is КРУЖЕВО originating from the word “to circle” кружить.
In Russia lace was used since the 16th century. By the end of 17th century lace crafting was widely spread out.
Vologda lace manufacturing was founded in the end of 18th century the 19th century.
Nowadays the main manufacturer of Vologda lace SNEJINKA (www.snejinka.ru) is producing a wide variety of hand made lace clothing, bedding, famous lace collars, stunning lace vests, nightgowns, fur coats with lace, jewelry, toys, tablecloths, and even traditional Russian felt boots with lace!
