Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University in Kaliningrad, Russia invites international participants with Russian language proficiency at A2 level or higher to take part in the annual Online Russian Dictation 2026, a well-known international Russian language competition. Held by Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University since 2006, this online Russian dictation has become a popular global event for students, teachers, heritage speakers, and anyone interested in Russian language and culture. Participants from many countries join each year to test their Russian spelling, grammar, and listening skills in an academic yet welcoming format.

The Online Russian Dictation is more than a Russian language test. It is also a cultural and educational experience. Each year, the event includes an open mini-lecture dedicated to the theme of the dictation text. In 2026, the dictation focuses on the 130th anniversary of Anton Chekhov’s play The Seagull, offering participants a deeper connection to Russian literature and cultural history.
The dictation texts are adapted to different levels of Russian proficiency, making the event accessible to a wide audience:
Level 1 is designed for participants with A2–B1 proficiency
Level 2 is suitable for B1–B2 level learners
Level 3 is intended for advanced participants at B2–C1 level
The event is held fully online, allowing participants to join from anywhere in the world. It is an excellent opportunity to practice Russian, assess your language skills, expand your cultural knowledge, and take part in an international educational initiative.
