How Russia Marks the Start of the Seasons

🌞 In many countries, seasons start with solstices and equinoxes:

Spring begins at the March equinox (~March 20–21)

Summer begins at the June solstice (~June 21)

Autumn begins at the September equinox (~September 22–23)

Winter begins at the December solstice (~December 21–22)

🇷🇺 In Russia, we go by the calendar, the seasons traditionally start on fixed calendar dates:

Spring – March 1

Summer – June 1

Autumn – September 1

Winter – December 1

Using set calendar dates fits typical weather and temperatures better than following the solstices and equinoxes.
