How long does it take to feel comfortable speaking Russian?
It depends on your starting level and how often you practice. Many students feel more confident speaking after a few classes, and their conversational skills improve with regular practice and attendance. Contact me and I will help you assess your level and create a plan to reach your conversational goals.
How do I book my first class or register for the course?
Please book your class on-line under Work With Me menu.
Payment can be processed by PayPal or credit card.
What makes your classes different?
My passion for teaching, professional academic background, love for the Russian language and culture, energy to connect with people, compassion to understand your goals and determination to reach these goals in the most efficient way.
What is your time zone?
PST — Pacific Standart Time
Do I need to buy a text book to take your classes?
No. I created my own manual on Russian that includes 4 parts: Introductory, Intermediate, Advanced, and Upper Advanced. These manuals are designed for short-term courses I’ve been teaching at the University. They provide professional and efficient instructions for different levels. Free downable audio and video materials are available. I am happy to work with the textbook of your choice if needed.
Are on-line classes for tech savvy students only?
No. Over the years I developed a low-tech way or no-tech approach of teaching. All you need is your computer, internet connection, camera and microphone that are usually built into your computer/laptop, notepad and pen. No special computer skills/software needed.
How do I submit my homework?
It’s easy. Take a picture or scan your homework and email it to me.
Are your on-line classes engaging enough?
I understand your hesitation and concern about on-line format! I can assure you that my private and group classes are very engaging, practical and fun. Along with the cutting edge technologies setup I am using interactive games, real life situations to practice Russian and activities designed specifically for on-line environment.
My child doesn't fit either bilingual or Russian as a foreign language student category. Can you help?
Absolutely. Most likely, your child could be described as a heritage language learner. I’ve been working with the heritage learners on a regular basis.
What age is considered a child?
A child is anyone under the age of 18. Students aged 18 and over are considered adults and follow the adult class structure and pricing.
Do you teach in person?
Yes. I offer in-person face-to-face format individual and group classes in the heart of beautiful Cowichan Valley – Cowichan Bay. The bonus of taking my in-person classes is a cup of tea served with Russian treats or occasional tasting of Russian cuisine.
Are you certified to work with children?
Yes. I have a Master of Education (M.Ed.), I am First Aid certified, hold a valid Criminal Record Check, and am fully insured for in-person teaching.
